The Shathlegh'san Chronicles began as a concept created by Shai Khalifa. The idea came as a scenario designed for creation in the virtual world of Second Life. It began here but after a year was moved to the alternate virtual world of Openlife Grid, where it remains for public exploration on the regions of Phaedran and Zanith.
As the concept evolved during the initial build the story began to take shape, with the reason for the Phaedrani being in the world beginning to form. This concept came to full bloom with the move to Openlife and the people, their histories, sadnesses, losses, joys, successes and failures all began to form.
One of the occupations of many residents of virtual worlds is roleplay - something these worlds are reasonably well suited for - and it soon became obvious that the Phaedran concept had a far wider implication to simply its own regions. Hence the grid-wide shared history came into being. It is this shared history that has become the seeds for the book.
Although the webbook will be an entity of its own, to be able to virtually step into the world of the Phaedrani is simply intriguing. To this end, it is possible to explore some of the locations as an avatar in a fully realised 3D virtual world. More information on this will be added as the project takes shape.
The story as told in these web pages is not a linear tale, but rather is one which fills in the details of a world and its people. You the reader can chose to follow one story or character, or follow a chronological path. You may instead choose to only follow the story of Phaedran Prime or only that of the colonists on Grid. Or you may flip between whatever interests you.
While the story begins on Phaedran Prime it splits into separate paths with the Dimension Experiment, but as time runs erraticly different between Phaedran Prime and Grid these stories are not necessarily parallel.
I hope you enjoy my little offering, and continue to follow the lives and times of the characters, all of whom I get to know better as time goes on.
